There are very few movie that have a shocking scene that catches me unawares and startles me into jumping and gasping the first time I see it. One of the movies that did that – twice! – is, “Meet Joe Black.”

The movie is a remake of one from the 1950’s called, “Death Takes a Holiday.” I actually found the original movie and didn’t see much resemblance at all. In fact, I thought the original was awful. I don’t see how anyone watched the original and decided, hey! Let’s remake this!

The remake is excellent – some fantastic actors and actresses and the director did a fabulous job. I watch that movie at least once a year and always notice new things that I hadn’t noticed before.
