Christmas Eve Panic and Worries

Here it is, Christmas Eve. I have some things to do and thankfully do not have to work today. So I can run all the errands and get everything done to be ready for the big event tomorrow morning – the tearing of the wrapping papers.

I have two people that still needs gifts – they are the hardest fucking people to buy anything for. Mostly because they have so much crap already and they make good money, so anything that they do want they go out and buy for themselves. So what do you buy for someone who already has everything they want and need? I figure I’ll give them something edible or perishable. So I’m going to hit up the local florist shop first, and see what they’ve got. If they strike out on me, then I will go to the grocery store and buy a bunch of gourmet foods and make a custom gift basket for them.

I’m pretty sure I have all the groceries I need for the next week. I’m not cooking Christmas dinner, so I don’t have to worry about a turkey or a ham and all that. But I still need to eat breakfast and can’t count on bringing home any leftovers, so I’m buying some things like pie and sandwich bread, lettuce and deli meats, just in case.

Need a Date for the Company Christmas Party

This Saturday night is our big company Christmas party at the Sheraton. This is always a big deal for my company – they spend a lot of money on the whole evening for us. It starts off with a cocktail hour and open bar at 7:00 pm, so people have plenty of time to arrive and get happy. Then they have a formal sit down dinner with prime rib and all kinds of side dishes. And then we have a kind of awards time, with the CEO giving a speech and a lot of people getting recognition for things we’ve accomplished throughout the year. Then the company President hands out Christmas bonus checks to all the staff, which always puts a big smile on everyone’s faces.

After all the speeches and awards and the bonus checks, they bring out coffee and dessert carts with all kinds of fantastic cheesecakes, pies, cakes and ice creams. And they bring out a DJ and open the bar again. We dance until 1:00 am. It is a crazy fun dinner and dance and fun time with everyone from our office. I’m really looking forward to it and now I have to find a good looking woman to be my date and make me look good in front of my boss and co-workers.

Whats for Dinner?

Just got home from work and was so tired that I wasn’t even thinking about what to do about dinner. I was just focused on getting the hell home and away from the job site. I got home and pulled open the refrigerator door and found almost nothing in there that can be nuked or even baked for my dinner.

I think I’ll just order pizza tonight. I haven’t done that in a long time, but I can order two or three and get a discount, then pop them into freezer bags and just pull out a slice or two when I want it over the next week or two.

Best Burgers

The local free weekly paper always has a contest for what the readers think are the best places in town for many different categories. This is when I realize that most of the people who live here have no taste at all for good food. What a bunch of schmucks.

This contest is more like a popularity contest than a real talent contest. Everyone knows the very best burgers in town for lunch or dinner are at Chilis. If you want a gourmet fast food burger, just drive over to the local Backyard Burgers stand. But these dumb fucks around here vote for McDonalds. Idiots.
