This Grass Grows Fast

We have had a lot of Spring rain, so between the rain, the grass seed I put down last month, and the warmer temps, my yard is growing grass like crazy. It needs to be cut at least once a week in normal weather, which usually burns an hour of my Saturday mornings. My grass could actually use a second, mid week cut to keep it from getting our of control.

I went ahead and cut the grass this morning around 8:00 and got it out of the way. I even bagged the clippings so that the lawn doesn’t have a problem with thatch. A quick shower, then I was off to my girl’s house to scoop her up and head over to the Lake. It was crowded as hell, and we barely got a place to park. In fact, there were so many fucking kids running around screaming and crying that we got sick of it and left earlier than planned.

Dropped her off at home to get changed and cleaned up, then we are heading downtown for some bar hopping and clubbing. That’s my weekend so far.

Installed New Motion Sensor Lights

My neighbors have been all upset these past couple of weeks. Seems some kids or young adults with nothing better to do have been cruising our street at night and vandalizing cars, mailboxes and yards. So far none of them have been stupid enough to try to actually break into a house or spray paint one of the houses. But you can bet that if these fuckers are not caught and stopped at this level of of crime, that they will get bolder and start doing even more serious damage.

That’s the problem with criminals. People want to be merciful and give them – especially kids – a second chance. But that doesn’t work. You have to do something to get their attention and make them not want to do it again. Just putting the little fuckers on probation accomplishes nothing other than keeping courts busy and lawyers rich.

With all the shit going on around here, I decided to install new motion sensor lighting around my house. I put two lights at the front door, one at the back door, two over the garage and also one on each of the four corners of the house. They can come on by use of a switch in the hallway, or I can set them to only come on when something moves within 10-15 feet of the house. I went ahead and set them to be very sensitive to even small animals. I would rather have the lights come on a few times unnecessarily because of a raccoon or a fox, than to have them miss showing some ghetto thug cutting across my yard or trying to bust out a window.

Sweater Weather – or Hoodies?

I have never been a fan of hoodies. To me, they were sweatshirts with an unnecessary hood. A hood almost never gets used, and when it does, it restricts your field of vision. I would rather just have a sweatshirt – it looks cleaner and weighs less.

I am thinking that even sweatshirts are too casual for some of the activities I like. I should probably step up my wardrobe a little and buy a couple of really nice sweaters. I think a nice sweater and jeans just looks more, I don’t know the word, put together. Or polished.

Rabbits everywhere

Our yard has been filled up with rabbits the last few weeks and they have eaten almost everything that was growing that they could get a hold of out in the yard. We have decided to try and find a humane way to remove some of the critters and get them back to the lake where they belong. The critters have to cross a major road to get to our yard from the lake and I do not want to see them hit by cars on the road. We have looked into a rabbit trap to humanely catch and release them closer to the lake. Not harming the critters is a major point with us.

The best humane rabbit trap that we found was located on the web site for HaveaHart.com they have a lot of other different kinds of traps that will work for us in our battle to move the rabbits out of our yard. We have had several other “pets” this year including squirrels and deer in the yard but the rabbits have all of the others way out numbered this year at least. I think if we can move the rabbits the other critters will get the idea and hit the road themselves.

New screens

We have ordered new screens for our patio doors and can not wait for them to get here. We ordered a french door screen from Stoett Industries. I love the way these screens make our patio seem a part of the house. Besides keeping out the bugs and allowing us to us our patio most days of the year this great French Door screen keeps people from seeing into our patio and into our house from that vantage. Stoett Industries has a fine web site with a great selection of screen doors that can be use on patios and garages to make the space a whole lot more usable and a lot more user friendly at the same time.
