Nice weather

The weather this weekend is what dreams are made of, the temperatures in the low 80’s and no rain in sight. The temperatures at night is going to the high 40’s or low 50’s and very nice sleeping weather. I love this time of year with the warm days and cool nights it makes the best time of year to be outside with the low humidity and most excellent temperatures. We still have to throw a little water on the flowers and the tomato plants they are still putting out tomatoes even this late in the year. I love the nice weather here in Nashville and look forward to it staying nice for the rest of the season.

Gift for my kids

As a gift to my children we have purchased a large salt water tank for fish and this weekend we will be getting the salt water fish to put in the tank. The search for affordable salt water fish has taken us all over Nashville and now we are looking online to find some salt water fish for our tank that we can afford. The very best priced salt water fish that we have found are located at Reef Hot Spot they have a great web site and fish that are very affordable for all sizes of salt water tanks. What we have been looking for is a blue spot jawfish for our tank.

Reef Hot Spot has a great web site located at http://www.reefhotspot.com there they have a great selection of exotic sat water fish and so much information of all kinds of sat water sea life. I have never had a salt water tank and I am really looking forward to seeing all the colors in the tank and just simply watching the salt water fish swim in the tank. The children are very excited to get some fish in the salt water tank and I am pleased that we found Reef Hot Spot to locate the fish we had been searching for and unable to find here in Nashville.

Rabbits everywhere

Our yard has been filled up with rabbits the last few weeks and they have eaten almost everything that was growing that they could get a hold of out in the yard. We have decided to try and find a humane way to remove some of the critters and get them back to the lake where they belong. The critters have to cross a major road to get to our yard from the lake and I do not want to see them hit by cars on the road. We have looked into a rabbit trap to humanely catch and release them closer to the lake. Not harming the critters is a major point with us.

The best humane rabbit trap that we found was located on the web site for HaveaHart.com they have a lot of other different kinds of traps that will work for us in our battle to move the rabbits out of our yard. We have had several other “pets” this year including squirrels and deer in the yard but the rabbits have all of the others way out numbered this year at least. I think if we can move the rabbits the other critters will get the idea and hit the road themselves.

Coyotes

With the metro area expanding deeper into the farmlands and woodlands, encroaching on wildlife is starting to affect the new neighborhoods. Deer are often seen in people’s backyards and alongside the subdivision streets. At night I often see a red fox scampering across a yard. Next door has trouble with a large raccoon getting into her trash cans at night. And now the people in the big gated communities and large estates are having problems with coyotes. Although coyotes do not attack humans, they do kill pets and will attack cats and dogs even in broad daylight with a human present. So we are going to have to find a way to reduce the coyote population. Killing cats and dogs is just not going to be tolerated.

Night with a lion

I know that this sounds like a story but it is true, while Hurricane Ike was approaching Texas a man who has a pet lion, now I know that part sounds like a story, he tried to get his lion to safety and got caught in the hurricane, He found refuge in a church with other people seeking shelter from the storm. They placed the lion in the sanctuary of the church and rode out the storm. When the storm lifted humans and lion were all safe ready to be rescued, I think I could find a better way to seek shelter from a huge storm like Hurricane Ike than to be trapped with a lion in a church. I am just glad the story had a happy ending and everyone including the lion were found safe and sound.
