Best Burgers

The local free weekly paper always has a contest for what the readers think are the best places in town for many different categories. This is when I realize that most of the people who live here have no taste at all for good food. What a bunch of schmucks.

This contest is more like a popularity contest than a real talent contest. Everyone knows the very best burgers in town for lunch or dinner are at Chilis. If you want a gourmet fast food burger, just drive over to the local Backyard Burgers stand. But these dumb fucks around here vote for McDonalds. Idiots.

Christmas Candies

When you think of Christmas candies, what is the first kind of candy that comes to mind? I know that candy canes are a big tradition at Christmas, but I don’t really like that much peppermint to buy a whole box of candy canes.

When I think of Christmas candies, my first though is the big yellow box of Whitman’s chocolates. Its called the Whitman’s Sampler. There is just one of every different kind of chocolate candy in the box. You have to look at the little guide printed on the top of the box to know what is in each candy, or you can live on the wild side and just pick one at random.

Frozen Turkeys

My dad owned a small business and every Thanksgiving he would order enough fresh turkeys from the butcher to give one to each employee. They were always huge birds – I remember one year we had a turkey so big it would not fit in the roasting pan my mother had and she sent my dad out to the store to buy a bigger pan.

Its been years since I ate fresh turkey at Thanksgiving. Now all the turkeys are frozen and you can even buy just the turkey breast or just the drumsticks if that’s what you like. I bought a big Butterball brand turkey for my Thanksgiving this year. Its just over 22 pounds – a big one.

Pasta Salad

I want to have a pasta salad. You know, the kind you can buy at the deli? Except there are no delis around here. So I guess I have to make it myself. I have no idea what you cal the salad that I like so I can’t look it up without knowing what its called. It has the three colors of spiral shaped pasta and dressing is an oil and vinegar type dressing – with onions, black olives, etc. Do you know how to make this or what it is called?
